What is Clear Recovery Communities, LLC (CRC)?
CRC offers and ensures safe, sober living environments for individuals who are sincere in wanting to recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. The community provides fellowship, the sharing of spiritual values, and exposure to other recovering men.
For the newly recovering man, Clear Houses provide a supportive, family environment. It encourages new patterns of social relationships and supports the healing process of alcoholism and drug recovery. With a singular focus on providing a living environment to help men in early recovery transition to full, healthy, and functional lives, Clear Houses are not boarding houses or treatment centers. They are not formally affiliated with any 12-step program, although they are supported by many members and groups of the Washington-area 12-step community through financial and other contributions, resident sponsorship, and fellowship.
Who manages a Clear Recovery Community House?
Clear Houses are run by the House Manager and Proprietor of CRC. All policies and rules enforcement is at the sole discretion of the House Manager and Proprietor of CRC.
What is required for admission to a Clear House?
To qualify for admission, applicants must:

Be at least 18 years old

Be sober and drug-free for at least 2 weeks

Submit to and pass a urinalysis and/or breath analysis at time of application submission and on move-in day

Have a commitment to sobriety

Have no violent or sexual criminal history

Have no history of violent behavior

A negative TB test (available at CVS pharmacies for $65)

Have an sponsor who is a member of a 12-step program

$250 security deposit plus nonrefundable first week’s living fee

Completion of admission paperwork and signature on House Rules and Guidelines and Agreement of Admission Contract
What is required to continue to live at a Clear House?
The following are among the various requirements that must be met to continue to live at a Clear House:

Sobriety

Be employed, volunteer, or be a student

Regularly attend 12-step and House meetings

Perform daily household and maintenance chores

Agree to random alcohol and drug testing at management discretion

Adhere to the requirement listed in the House Rules and Guidelines
How much sobriety or clean time is needed before an individual can be admitted into a Clear House?
House Members are required to have a minimum of 2 weeks (14 days) of continuous sobriety. House Members are also required to pass an alcohol and drug test when applying for admission to a Clear House and on move-in day.
How long can someone live in a Clear House?
A recovering individual can live in a Clear House for up to two years, as long – among other things – he does not drink alcohol, does not use drugs, pays the required living fees, and abides by the house rules/guidelines.
Do requirements for stay at a Clear House change depending on how long a house member maintains his sobriety?
Yes. House Members are required to attend at least 4 12-step meetings per week. In the first year of sobriety, House Members are responsible for having a meeting slip signed to confirm attendance. Following a year of continuous sobriety, House Members no longer need to have a meeting slip signed.
What can I bring?
You are allowed to bring most anything you'd have at home, but please remember space is at a premium here. We want you to feel comfortable here and try to accommodate all residents equally.
What if I have a car?
You are absolutely permitted to bring and use your vehicle here as you please. Bikes and motorized scooters are permitted as well.
What if I don't have a car?
There is public transportation in the form of buses and metro moments away from the houses. All Clear Houses are located within walking distance of public transportation, including the metro.
What about my mobile phone?
All house members are permitted to bring and use as they please their mobile phones with no restriction or invasion of privacy whatsoever.
What about Computers?
Yes you can bring a computer, but remember space is at a premium and so we strongly discourage house members to bring desktop computers due to space limitations. Laptops are absolutely okay.
What about food?
House members are responsible for purchasing their own food. Each resident is assigned pantry space and there is a shared refrigerator. Dishes, cutlery, cookware and bakeware are also provided. One thing to remember though is that each house member does not have all that much space to store his food.
What about gaming consoles?
You are permitted to bring gaming consoles, but they must be connected to a communal TV and be available for use by all house members.
What about amenities, what does my monthly living fee include?

Are there any fees I should know about?
Yes. Each resident is required to pay a $250.00 application fee before moving in, which will be used to cover the costs of the background check and alcohol and drug tests.
There is a weekly fee of $5.00 in place to pay for shared household (things like toilet paper, paper towels, soap, dish soap, sponges, and cleaning agents).
House Members are asked to give 2 weeks’ notice upon moving out.
